Beginner Guide - Gothic 1 Remake
First-hours route for surviving the Colony, reaching camps, saving ore, and avoiding early combat traps.
The safest first-hours plan is to avoid fair fights, collect safe loot, learn trainers and camps, and save ore until your build direction is clear.
First Priorities
- Talk to early-route NPCs such as Diego and use roads instead of cutting through monster territory.
- Reach the Old Camp and learn vendor, trainer, and arena locations.
- Do not join a faction immediately. Visit the New Camp and Swamp Camp first if you care about route choice.
- Spend learning points on a coherent plan: One-Handed for early melee, Bow for safer pulling, or save for Magic Circles if you know the faction route.
Common Mistakes
- Fighting every enemy on sight. Early Gothic is about picking fights, not clearing zones.
- Burning ore on gear before checking trainers and faction options.
- Ignoring Lockpicking until chest routes become expensive.

Before You Commit
Use the advice here as a planning pass before spending ore, learning points, or faction reputation. Gothic is most punishing when a player solves one problem in isolation and discovers the next trainer, camp, or quest step needed the same resources. Cross-check the linked pages, save before risky fights or locks, and use the map whenever travel order matters.
